Next Level…

There will be many more schools and colleges beginning to deliver the NPA Computer Games Development qualification this academic year. I hope that all the events that were held last term by Scotland’s Colleges / SQA will have helped prepare teachers for the course.

Unfortunately the teaching & learning materials produced by SQA are not yet available on SQA Academy – apparently there are some issues with some of the content that need to be resolved first. Hopefully it will be available very soon.

Also coming up soon is the validation of the Level 6 NC Computer Games Development, which will enable colleges to offer a ‘higher’ qualification in computer games from next session.

Next month (September) will see a new intake for the free Game Design course at Adobe Generation. It focusses on creating games with Adobe Flash, but also covers a lot of game design theory and features a number of industry experts – so there will be something useful for everyone interested in gaming.

On Monday 27th August I will start the Computer Games: Design (Level 5) unit with my new class, so I’ll start blogging about it from next week. I’ll be starting with ‘managing expectations‘.
